In the US, nursing programs abound. There are LPN (Licensed practical nursing) degrees that generally take 2 years, RN (Registered Nurse) that takes 3, and BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) programs that generally take 4.

Community Colleges offer LPN and sometimes RN programs. You don't need to go to a "good" (expensive) university when any accredited community college offers you the credentials you want. It is not hard for anyone with an RN to find work. Seriously.
